Thomas Joussot (JuicySoundz) was born in 1983 in Saint-Maur on the outskirts of Paris. He started learning music at age 5, and began studying Classical Guitar at age 6 with Christian Catalan, the student of Paco Ibanez. Around age 10, Thomas began with Electric Guitar and studied rock, blues, and hard rock with Stéphane Bonneau, former guitarist of ’80s French hard rock band ‘Satan Jokers’.
In addition to his mentorships, Thomas took courses in Paris studying flamenco techniques, jazz harmony and improvisation, bossa nova and more. He also spent time with Tap A Malice learning African percussions including djembé, dunun, and bells where he developed a love for Malinké and Cuban styles.
Thomas graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from EICAR, The International Film & Television School Paris and immediately began teaching and lecturing on sound technique, field recording and post-production. During this time Thomas further developed his skills in recording and post production working as a Stock Manager on over 150 film shoots and sound recordings (field/post-production), and in numerous production capacities including Boom Operator and Sound Engineer on film shoots, and as Sound Editor, ADR Recordist, Foley Artist, and Mix Engineer on over 50 films and documentaries. He also worked for a couple of years at Loca Images as an Audio Consultant and Sales Operator where he made strong connections in the Cinema and Television industry.
In 2010 Thomas created his own freelance company, JuicySoundz, offering consultation, integration and technical services for composers, producers and music studios.
Shortly after, Thomas joined Univers Sons, a professional audio shop in Paris, as a Technician and Audio Consultant where he worked for 3 years before taking a position with UVI where he is now the Head of Customer Support, the Cooperative Beta Manager, and leads Artist and Partner Relations.
In addition to his primary roles, Thomas has always been active as a Guitarist in local bands such as the neo-soul collective Bing Zooo, and as FOH and Dub Mixer for the French reggae band Mounkila, mixing both passions for music and audio technology.
Throughout his career Thomas has had the honor to connect and work with many talents in the music and audio worlds such as:
